The Whale
Shark is the world's largest fish and can commonly
be found in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico near Isla
Holbox during the months of June to
August.
The WHALE SHARKS are harmless & Non Threatening
to humans. In Fact, they seem to enjoy their interaction
with the curious people who come to swim with them.
They Migrate to Holbox Island between June
& August every year. You may if you are lucky sight
them in May & September also.
Trips begins
every morning between 07:00hrs & 08:00 hrs. once
you have finished your Breakfast, and makes for the
perfect day out for Brits in Cancun to swim with Whale
Sharks in Holbox.
As you sail
out
to the whale shark areas there's a chance to see lots
of the other sea and bird life found around the coast.
On a typical day in these still clear waters you might
encounter a school of wild dolphins, a flock of
flamingos, sting rays, ibis, egrets, pelicans and the
rare Chimay Birds.
On board the boat you will have plenty of complimentary
ice cold water & soft drinks to keep you refreshed.
When you arrive in the whale sharks area you'll enter
the water in small groups, so that everyone will have
more than an hour of interaction with these gentle
giants.
Snorkeling
gear &
life jackets are provided to make your experience safe
& comfortable, but you may bring your own gear if
you have it.
Prices for
this Tour begin at $85.00 USD per person, and
take approx 5 hours. The transport time to Holbox is
not included in this journey time.
Transportation
to/from Cancun plus Ferry to/from Holbox are extras.
Your experience with the whale sharks can be filmed
if you wish using the latest High Technology Movie Cameras
& will offer you a VIDEO HIGHLIGHT of your
trip at nominal cost. The Movie CD you take home will
be a "Must-Have" souvenir to show all of your
friends & relatives back home showing you in the
water with these docile sea creatures.
After completing
this "ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME" experience you'll be treated
to a tasty lunch enroute back to Isla Holbox .
 Isla
Holbox ( Pronounced "HOLE-BOSH" ) "x" in Mayan
is Pronounced "SH" is a small protected island only
7 miles long & 1 mile wide. Home to almost 2000
people who are mainly fishermen. Holbox was founded
by Pirates who inter-married with the Mayan locals.
The descendants of the original 7 families are
still there today.
Points to
REMEMBER:
There are
NO ATM machines
on Holbox. Please take Mexican Pesos with you, especially
as a lot of places don't take credit cards.
You CANNOT
Scuba Dive with the Whale Sharks, only Snorkeling is
permitted.
 Holbox is
Quite "UNLIKE" CANCÚN with its High-Rise Hotels Discos,
Noise, Traffic & Congestion. Infact it is "Laid-Back"
Tranquil & Peaceful. Truly a place to "GET AWAY
FROM IT ALL" !!!! Our 7 Mile long White sandy beaches
are MUCH SAFER than the dangerous undertow Caribbean
waters of Cancún. Here the Gulf of Mexico gently
rolls in without fear of water problems. Its flat sandy
bottom goes out a long way, so you can easily explore
for shells.
The main
means of transportation is Motor Scooter, Golf
Cart, or just plain old walking.
