Cancun Bullfight,
Mexico
Cancun Centro, Plaza de Toros Cancun, Avenue Bonampak.
Every
Wednesday afternoon, the Plaza de Toros Cancun, fills
with spectators eager to glimpse this historic sport.
Visitors will not be disappointed but remember
that this is the authentic "Corrida de Toros",
and the bull will die.
A
sport introduced to Mexico by the Spanish viceroys,
bullfighting is now as much a part of Mexican culture
as tequila. Combining authentic folk dances with the
Mexican Rodeo, the traditional Spanish spectacle is
rich with colour and pageantry, as brightly clad fighters
confront brave bulls bred at some of the best ranches
in the Country. Not recommended for animal lovers or
those who cannot tolerte the sight of blood.
As
the Cancun bullfight begins, the matador enters the
ring accompanied by an entourage of additional charros,
sombrerro wearing matadors, and picadors (mounted bullfighters).
The star of the show, the bull, emerges with head lowered
and horns ready, and the matador proceeds to demonstrate
skill and grace by controlling the bull with the motions
of his red cape.
You're
not likely to see Mexico's best bullfights in Cancún,
because the real stars are in Mexico City, but you will
be able to say that you have been to an authentic Mexican
bullfight.
Wednesdays ONLY at 15:30hrs.
Adult Price: $35.00 USD
Children under 12 are admitted free.
Wear comfortable, light clothing, such as shorts, T-shirts
and tennis shoes. Not recommended for young children
or the faint of heart!
